Marriage Records Can Tell You Lots

By: Jordan Thompson

Creative Ways to Record Your Marriage

There is so much money and time spent on the actual wedding day and the traditions that go on before two people tie the knot, that often less importance is paced on recording your marriage memories in the form of cherished mementos that can last long after the cake and flowers.

Photography

Splurging on a good photographer, for instance, is a good example of where you can get your dollar’s worth as good pictures can last not only for the duration of your life but be passed on for generations. You can choose to have a professional photographer for the duration of the ceremony or save some money by just having him or her take portraits of you and your better half before the reception when you are looking your freshest and have the time to sit and pose for him.

Discuss the style of photography that you like beforehand so that the photographer knows if he is required to bring any props or get any special effect equipment. The best way to choose a photographer is not through references of friends and family but by looking at his portfolio online or in person. Your friend may love a traditional style photographer but you are more of a contemporary person and hence want to have less of the frills and lace. Only when you see the work a photographer has done can you make a sound decision as to who should be chosen to help you record your marriage day.

Video

Apart from photographs, you can also record your marriage memories on film and save it to a DVD. That way you can be assured of a good digital format that can be enjoyed for many years as most people do not use VHS any longer. Again, it depends on your style and budget if you would like a professional to make the video or a friend to shoot some candid moments of the first dance, the best man’s toast and the like.

Scrapbooking

You can also record your marriage by scrapbooking all the memorabilia of the wedding along with the pictures. That way you can be sure to have your invitations, registry cards, shower invites and other such things safe on acid free archival quality picture so that you have more than just photos of your big day, you have journaling, embellishments and the whole nine yards so that your marriage is recorded with as much fanfare as you would like it to be.
