Legend has it that the Emperor of Heavens a long time ago, while celebrating one of his birthdays, had called all the animals for a feast. As the party was under way, the Emperor asked all the animals present to participate in a race for the fun of it. The Emperor said that he would assign each animal a place on the path to Heaven, according to the rank they got at the race. Anticipating the race the next day morning, two very close friends, the rat and the cat decided to start the race together. The cat could not make it as it slept on waiting for the mouse; ever since that incident, the cat would pounce on a mouse whenever it would see it.
