Got Black Marks Between Your Skirting Boards And Carpets?

What causes those black marks around the carpet and skirting boards? Two possible answers to this first is fluff where the vacuum not picking it up or
The first is just dust and fluff that's your vacuum is not picking up. Just use a hand tool of some kind on it and this will sort the problem.
Normally you get a small gap under the skirting or baseboard. This is where the carpet tucks into. And if you're unlucky where the air finds it way out. Leaving a black mark behind of dirty dust.
The problem is when you get air flow under the floor this air wants to find its way out anyway it can and if the floor is not fitted tight it blow up where ever it can, normally around the edge leaving a dirty black mark.
Or after taking up the carpet run a product like gapfill round the baseboard. Tape the joints on the underlay making sure there are no holes in the underlay as you will get marks on the carpet above if you miss these. Put carpet back down and clean.
Using cedar paper and flexible tape work well. When you get the carpet cleaned it will need to be cleaned with the right product, so use a cleaner that know his stuff.
Getting the edges and underlay air tight is the name of the game here. Miss a gape or hole and the air will punish you with black makes and having to lift the carpet a second time. So tale care and don't miss and holes or gaps.
Next time you have any carpets fitted make sure that the carpet fitters lay your carpets to this high standard. You will need to tell them about the problem. And as you know what the cause is you can't get ripped off.
