Diabetes is still a danger throughout the entire world and is quickly expanding to more people every day. Quality of life is being undermined among many people and many lives are even being shortened dramatically because of this horrible disease.

The dangers of diabetes are a reflection of your body's metabolism out of control. The body has lost the ability to effectively digest and utilize food for energy and growth.

Glucose is produced by the liver and is also entering the body through the foods that you eat as a diabetic. Unfortunately, it is not even sufficient to simply avoid sugar in any form since a diabetics body will take any carbohydrate, especially simple carbohydrates, and convert them into glucose so that eating a slice of bread can add as much glucose to your body as eating a small piece of candy.

On the other hand type 1 diabetes is understood to be an autoimmune disease and nearly 10% of the people that aren't diabetics have this type 1 diabetes. It is even more difficult for type 1 diabetics to control their diabetes and this must be done by injecting insulin into the body.

You cannot write about diabetes without mentioning glucose. Glucose will increase in the body to dangerous levels when one is a diabetic. Excess glucose Will empty through the release of urine but not at a high enough rate to completely protect the body.

As to risk factor, this most frequently enters the picture in people who have, or may contract, type 2 diabetes. Lack of exercise, and proper diet, and carrying excess weight even in small amounts makes it much more likely that one will inevitably contract type 2 diabetes.

Diabetic neuropathy, abnormal and decreased sensation, usually in a 'glove and stocking' distribution starting with the feet but potentially in other nerves, later often fingers and hands. Diabetic amyotrophy is muscle weakness due to neuropathy. Diabetic nephropathy, damage to the kidney which can lead to chronic renal failure, eventually requiring dialysis.

People with diabetes may experience many serious, long-term complications. Complications resulting from diabetes can affect almost every part of the body, including the heart, eyes, blood vessels, teeth, and skin. Complications such asamputations, blindness, liver/kidney failure, restricted diets and lifestyles, and possibly pre-mature death are what you have to look forward to unless you take immediate action.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects as many as 21 million Americans. Diabetes is a chronic condition that needs close attention, but with some practical knowledge, you can become a much more healthy person.
