Got Black Marks Between Your Skirting Boards And Carpets?

What causes those black marks around the carpet and skirting boards? Two possible answers to this first is fluff where the vacuum not picking it up or
The first is just dust and fluff that's your vacuum is not picking up. Just use a hand tool of some kind on it and this will sort the problem.
Sealing these gaps will stop this. Use sealer around the baseboards and tape on the floor making sure that the tape is of the type that will stop air. Gaffer tape works great.
The problem is when you get air flow under the floor this air wants to find its way out anyway it can and if the floor is not fitted tight it blow up where ever it can, normally around the edge leaving a dirty black mark.
Or after taking up the carpet run a product like gapfill round the baseboard. Tape the joints on the underlay making sure there are no holes in the underlay as you will get marks on the carpet above if you miss these. Put carpet back down and clean.
Run sealer around the edge and fit hard board over the boards
Getting the edges and underlay air tight is the name of the game here. Miss a gape or hole and the air will punish you with black makes and having to lift the carpet a second time. So tale care and don't miss and holes or gaps.
Get some cedar paper from B&Q. fill skirting gaps with flexible sealer, lay cedar paper. Then carpet underlay, tape all joins in the carpet underlay. Refit carpet. You must make sure you seal it air tight as the air will find its way through. That should fix the problem now you just need a carpet cleaner like me to fix the dirt problem for you.
