I could be wrong here but it seems every day a new diet or dieting technique is advocated to ensure a healthy life. But what I thought might be useful would be to put together a list of simple tips of foods and cooking techniques to avoid. I've called it "Seven Deadly Sins Diets Tips for Anti-Aging". A lot of this info you'll doubtless know but the fact you know it so often means you become blase` about it and totally ignore it.
1. Avoid eating manufactured foods:- You body was not designed to live on pastries, cookies and candies none of which offer any significant food value or benefit. Keep to natural foods which are made from whole foods (a potato not potato chips) . A grilled chicken breast and not a chicken burger. If you think how food is prepared and where it comes from before cooking it (an how it's cooked) you won't go far wrong
2. Avoid stuffing yourself and break meals down more:- You digestive system works better with 5 smaller meals the 3 huge platefuls. Let you body have time to digest the food and avoid unhealthy snacking but don't feel bad at healthy snacks if you feel a little peckish. Five small meals will be more enjoyable and better for you and help in the long term, against aging too fast.
3. Stop eating so many refined foods:- If you suffer from bloating or constipation as you get older this is probably due to lack of fiber in your diet. Fiber helps the digestive tract work more effeciently and gets rid of waste which if retained can lead to illness, tiredness and lethargy and longer term health issues.
Avoid not drinking enough water:- If you have never heard this before I'm shocked. Our bodies thrive on water and suffer if they don't get enough. When we eat the wrong sorts of foods or drink alcohol we become dehydrated and our body needs to rehydrate. By drinking plenty of water we also flush the kidneys which helps the body naturally remove toxins and other noxious substances.
5. Stop eating bad fats:- Most of will claim we don't know the difference but who are we kiding we all now that we eat burgers because they taste better than grilled chicken. Fat which come from animals (saturated fats) and those manufactured (trans fats) are more harmful than fats from plants such as olive oil and avocado oil. Note: All fats make you fat and contain about the same number of calories.
6.Combine food groups and balance meals:- If you use this simple technique you'll find it works wonders. Always combine simple carbs with more complex carbs and make them part of a balanced meal. If you are going to eat fruits, juices, pasta, potatoes and desserts make sure you balance them as part of meal containing protein and fats. If having pasta have a simple tomato sauce with herbs and spices if you like with a grilled chicken breast.
7.Avoid a sugar rush or a sugar low:- One of the biggets stresses you can put on your body is a massive sugar rush or a sudden sugar drop. In diabetic's these are refered to as hypo's or hypoglycemic attack.Many people believe this is just a problem for diabetics but it has been shown that these constant irregularities in blood sugar can lead to serious health problems and reduce your life expectancy. This can be quite easily prevented by combining less healthy foods (those with a low Glycemic index) with slower release foods. A good example we have all come across is meat and potatoes.
Strangely enough most people don't seem to grasp the concept of healthy eating for living longer. The more people abuse their body the more likely their life expectancy will be lowered significantly.
