Want To Cut Your Advertising Bills? Here's How

You know you need to advertise, but you just don't like spending all that money. Not a problem.

There are seven easy steps you can take. Here they are:

The prices on the rate sheet are not carved in stone. More like pudding. Bargain for a beter price, especially if you offer to buy in volume.

Some media outlets will trade advertising for things they want in exchange for advertising. When I sold ads for a local independently owned newspaper years ago, I got my first computer that way. I did a three-way deal: the publisher got some equipment, the business owner got advertising and I got a computer as my commission.

One great way to save on newspaper advertising is to buy a whole page or a half page and split it up with other business owners in the same area, or same profession, but a different part of town. Your cost per unit goes down. For example, if a fourth of a page sells for $300, the whole page might cost $1,000, which makes your cost $250.

Many brand-name products have co-op programs. If you sell such items, the company will pay for part of your ad if you mention their product. Contact the advertising departments of the companies you sell products for.

Depending on you budget, you might want to consider using a media buyer. They are experts at buying advertising space and air time. They know how to get the best prices for you.

Ask your customers and prospects if you can send them regular newsletters by email. Tell them it will inform them about new products and give them tips on how to use the the ones they have more effectively. Some business owners use these newsletters to ask customers to give them feedback and ask questions.

Send a press release to the media. If they like the story idea about you or your business, they will interview you and run the story for free. Another advantage is that publicity has more credibility than an ad.

If you use these tactics, you can save a lot of money. So give them a try and watch how much you save.
