Dream Fly Fishing Vacations

The old saying is everyday of fishing is better than a day at work. Few of us would disagree with it. While that may be so, some days of fly fishing are better than others. Specifically, we are talking about fly fishing spots every angler talks about.
As with any top 5 list, it is important to note this is a very subjective point of view. Everyone has their particular opinion, and should be respected. My opinion is paramount here because, of course, I'm the one writing the article after all!
1. The Big Horn River in Montana is one of the most productive spots you'll find. Rainbows in the 15 inch range and an absolute huge population most years. Late July through the first two weeks of August are the best times to go for this great spot.
2. Mardi Gras in Brazil is legendary and so is a particular fishing spot - the Rio Negro. Peacock bass are the explosive fighting fish legendary for breaking rods. They are actually cichlid, but who is going to quibble. Late winter is the best time of the year.
3. Canada certainly has to be at the top of any list of top fly fishing spots and the Dean River is a worth destination. Jaw dropping scenery and steelhead are on the menu. This is the spot where people in the fly fishing industry go, so it is a must fish spot.
4. Argentina. Now there is a destination you might not think of with fly fishing. Well, the Rio Traful is a river in Patagonia with landlocked Salmon! The fishing is so good that President Eisenhower fished there and Ted Turner owns a big ranch on the river.
5. A personal favorite is Redding, California. The idea of there being good fly fishing in California may sound strange to some, but the small rivers around this area are a blast and uncrowded. Salmon, trout, bass are all on the menu to mention a few.
Well, there you have it. One man's opinion on the top spots for anglers to dream about. Getting to these locations actually isn't that expensive, so start saving now for the trip of your life.
