It is important to try to keep your restaurant busy all during business hours. While you may be happy with some peak rush hours for meal times, you need to reach out for something more. This way you can have a better business all the way around. When your tables and booths are empty, that is money lost that could be in your pocket.

Breaks between the various meal times are to be expected and they are needed to a point. This way your staff can gather themselves and restock supplies. Yet they will love to have a steady stream of customers coming in all day long. This is going to greatly improve your bottom line. It will also keep your employees happier as they can make more money too.

While you shouldn't take these slow periods of time personally if your business is otherwise doing well, you shouldn't just allow it to continue either. Hire on some additional employees though to help you prepare for the additional people that will be coming in. Rather than one waitress between the lunch and dinner crowds you may need two or even three.

Consider offering early bird specials. These are meals that cost less due to the time of day it is. They can be the same size of portions or slightly smaller. Generally this period of time is from 3pm-5pm. You can also offer full meals complete with a drink and dessert for a great price.

If you are a restaurant that also serves alcohol, you can offer two for one wines, wells, and drafts. Chances are those planning to have a meal and a few drinks will take you up on such offers. You can also offer great prices on appetizers for those that want to have a few drinks and something light to nibble on.

For those that offer meals to families, get something in place for them as well. While most of them enjoy eating out, the cost can really add up fast. Offer low cost meals for children or even free ones on certain days from certain times. Some free entertainment such as a magic show can help too.

Don't be afraid that these types of offers are going to cost you money. Take the time to really crunch the numbers. You will soon discover that these types of offers are going to get you more repeat business than ever before. It will allow you to benefit from all of the hours of operation instead of just particular ones.

You can try just one type of offer at a time to see how well it works out for your restaurant. You can also choose to try out different offers at different times of the day or various days of the week. Be creative so you can come up with the right type of choices for your particular restaurant.
