When winter travels take you to Michigan, make a point of visiting Nub's Nob Ski Resort. Considered by many to have the best snow in the Midwest, Nub's Nob has earned the distinction of being a family-friendly mountain resort. Many generations of parents have taken their kids to learn to ski at Nub's Nob.
The layout of the mountain is fairly simple with an elevation of 1,338 feet and a vertical drop of 427 feet. There are 43 trails with eight chair lifts. Boasting one of the top skiing and snowboarding schools in the country, both private and group lessons are available.
Those who are new to skiing or relatively inexperienced can take advantage of free ski lessons at Nub's Nob resort. Parents can carefree ski lessons when they enroll their kids at the Nub's Cubs Childcare Center.
Nub's Nob offers great programs for beginners, but that doesn't mean that intermediate or even expert skiers won't be challenged here as well. The diverse terrain is definitely challenging, and night skiing brings another exciting level to your experience.
The Ski School at Nub's Nob offers training programs for advanced skiers who are curious about racing, and there are many racing events held at the resort. Sign up for race leagues at the resort and take part in league events all season.
Don't worry about buying and packing ski equipment for your getaway. Nub's Nob has all the equipment you need for rent, and the general store stocks gloves, hats, neck warmers and other must-have items. If your skis need tuning or repair, the technology center at Nub's Nob can take care of it all.
You won't be left hungry either! Nub's Nob Cafeteria is open for breakfast and lunch, and if you took your own lunch, you can eat in the 'brown bag' room.
Weather permitting, you can enjoy a grilled burger at Nub's Winter Garden, and when you reach the top of the Black Lift, be sure to visit the Pintail Peak Warming Hut for homemade soups, sandwiches and breathtaking views.
When it comes to a fun family ski vacation, Nub's Nob is definitely the place to be. From beginners to expert skiers interested in racing and skill events, there is a wealth of things to see and do. You may actually find it hard to decide which activity to do first!
Don't worry about missing anything, though -- if you want to ski right away and board later, you can do that. Most events are planned for the weekends, so arrange your schedule so that you can attend or participate in the planned events.
