The Everyday List To Achieve Goals - Goal Setting Part 3

Kerry Beck

Daily lists are a life-saver for me. When I work hard on my goals & priorities, as I described in earlier parts of this article, I want to follow through on a daily basis. That's when my day-by-day lists come in handy.

What will you do now? Make a "to do" list for today and the succeeding days. Each sunrise I keep a blank empty paper near me as I read the Bible. When a nice idea strikes me, I immediately put it in writing. This way it keeps me targeted on God and helps me remember those "to do" tasks later in the day. When I'm finished reading, I check my list and compare it to my weekly goals.

I don't know about you, but when I get to mid-afternoon, I sometimes have a brain-drain! I can't remember what I am suppose to do that day. In fact, that happened yesterday. I was wandering around the house trying to remember the things on my "to do" list.

What if I simply forget? I look for my early morning list and check if there's something that's not been done. It's that easy! My list is a very good memory aid as I get older and easily forget things.

Always be updated on your plans so you are prepared for unforseen changes. Based on experience as a mother, I know there are times when contingencies are needed. When my first child was born, I heard that moms should prepare to-do lists on multiple days. If the task is not done on the first day, you can still finish it on the next day. If it takes 2 or 3 day, let it. Now your goals can now be fulfilled without worrying too much about it.

This is the first of the year and many of you will be more relaxed with your schedule, whether or not you homeschool. It is the PERFECT TIME to set goals for 2008. Get some blank paper and start planning. You will be glad you did!
