American's, Obestity And Tv Whats The Real Connection?

I imagine you'll probably find this hard to stomach but I based this article on my own thoughts backed up with some fairly extensive research which was from visitors to my blog DreambodyNow. I found that most people who were obese young and old had one common factor that of watching TV.

In the survey we carried out we found that on average only one family in ten sit down to a family meal every single day and more than 40% of Americans never sit at a table to eat.

Can you imagine why? Well It's the TV. Let me explain to you more what I mean with a couple of typical examples of what I call TV food syndrome.

1. If you have a young child you put them in front of the TV to play or watch DVD's but rather than disturb their viewing to eat you give them their food whilst sat in front of the TV. But you need to give them easy to eat finger food so they don't need any thing to eat it with or spill any. This usually consists of things like chips, fries, burgers or hot dogs or shaped chicken nuggets. Or if it's cold food jelly or peanut butter sandwiches are most peoples choice.

Although this food might be good food with regards to you having no work to do to prepare it it also has almost no nutritional value and will be packed full of harmful fats,a bunch of unhealthy additives and far more salt than needed for any healthy diet. All of which are very harmful for your children.

Then to make matters worse it's normally followed by a soda (which is like giving your kid chemically flavored sugar to drink). Then finished off with cookies packed full of even more fats and carbs. If this is how you feed your young ones and most people do you should STOP NOW! This junk is setting your kid up for obesity and other serious health problems.

2. The second thing that happens across America is you arrive home stressed after a day at work and you sit in the kitchen watching the TV while you tuck in to some sort of pizza or microwave meal.Or maybe fast food which you either bring home or call out for as a takeaway. But what happens is you are so focused on the TV you will hardly notice what you are eating at all.

I doubt by the time you have finished eating you even know what it was you had for the meal and certainly wasn't focused on what you were eating.

Why not try something radical next week and get your kids to sit at a table and eat real food not finger food or junk food.Better still why not do this for the whole family at least one day a week (in a room with no TV). Cook your family a special meal don't worry to much at this stage what it is.We can work on that later.

Once you start to think about the quality and type of food your family eat rather than eating on autopilot you'll all eat less and enjoy good food more and will start to recognised the junk food as the gargbage food it really is which is the major reason for obesity in kids and adults.
