Internal Freedom, External Liberty

Ellie Drake is a world-famous motivational speaker, but she came from humble roots and met many challenges on her road to fame. Ellie grew up in Iran, a country that told her she could have no dreams and to give up. She didn't give up, though. Nearly two decades ago, she came to the United States knowing no English at all to live the American Dream.
Coming to American had always been one of Ellie Drake's wildest dreams. Living in the "free world" seemed impossible when growing up surrounded by bombs. When she was young, Ellie wanted so badly to learn English that she would walk to school, dictionary in hand, and memorize one new word per day. She couldn't pronounce what she was learning, but she at least familiarized herself with English terminology.
Ellie Drake's life changed in an instant when her parents brought her to America. Ellie's heart was filled with passion. She had the freedom to do or be anyone she wished, and she had the liberty of living in a country that would allow her to do so. She was unstoppable.
Passion has to be a growing flame in your heart in order to be successful. Passion and success go hand in hand, of course, but they definitely aren't the same things. Success is making a living doing what you love, not just making a living. The richest person in the world is the poorest without any passion.
Ellie Drake was very successful in American schools. Her parents told her she would become a doctor so that she could make enough money to care for them. Ellie DID become a doctor, but she wasn't passionate about that choice. She didn't enjoy her job. She didn't look forward to springing out of bed in the morning for another day of practicing medicine. She wanted more out of life.
One day Ellie decided she'd had enough and handed her medical degree to her parents. She wouldn't be needing it anymore because she confidently told them she would rather follow the passions in her heart by becoming a speaker and entrepreneur. Sure, she knew she would have setbacks and failures, but she also knew that her passion was strong enough to get her through the tough times ahead.
Passion is great, but there are always bills to pay. How can you follow you passions without losing everything? Ellie feels that's the wrong attitude to have. Your focus must be on your passions, because that's what will make you money. If you're focused on money, you can't be focused on how to make money.
Ellie started out with debt like many of us do. When she left school, she was under $150,000 of student loan debt. On top of that, she had spent $115,000 on credit card purchases. Passion is what led her through, and today, along with BraveHeart Productions, she empowers women and executives nationwide to follow their passions and live out their own American Dream.
