Sending Flowers On Valentines Day Is A Beautiful Idea
Howard Brule
This is a story that I heard recently about how important sending Valentine's Day flowers can be:
"Only a few years ago, I would have argued that ladies do not send flowers to men. Before I fell in love with my husband, he had never before received flowers from a woman. I decided to do it as part of a romantic Valentine's Day celebration. His goal was to take me to a special dinner occasion. My goal was to do something unusual and romantic that would leave him in no doubt that I enjoyed the adventure of our relationship.
A sudden snowstorm dropped a foot of snow on us that night and the next morning. He became violently ill with a stomach virus. His plans for a romantic dinner were out the window. My plans for a treasure hunt adventure that ended in a passionate kiss were cancelled abruptly. The only aspect of Valentine's Day that we celebrated that evening were the flowers I sent him."
People can send flowers for many different reasons, and out of many different motives. Many people give flowers to others as tokens of their friendship, appreciation, or sympathy. Others will send flowers as celebrations of a special event or a milestone, such as a job promotion or a musical performance.
Some persons may choose to send spring flowers for occasions such as Mother's Day or birthdays. Others may simply elect to give the recipient a favorite type of blossom. When choosing special flowers for spring, a person's favorite hue or a certain color motif may be a very appropriate choice. Spring flowers include: daisies, crocuses, cherry blossoms, tulips, and many other blooms.
Those wishing to send flowers can do it in a variety of ways. Flowers can be purchased online or over the telephone using a credit card. They can be purchased at a florist, and delivered by the florist or by the one purchasing them. Any of these are commonly accepted as appropriate ways to send flowers.
Some people persist in sending flowers for solely sentimental reasons. In the Victorian age, each type of bloom had a particular meaning. Azaleas were characteristic of abundance and irises indicated inspiration. Carnations did not indicate a positive characteristic, as they represented rejection while lavender signified distrust of the intended recipient.
So it is probably a good thing to ask a few questions or do a bit of research before sending flowers to send a message to a loved one or mark a special occasion. Those flowers you send will speak to people in ways you may not even be aware of.
