Andy Grove, former CEO of Intel, once said "Dive deep into the data, then trust your gut."

If you believe you are good, and you are smart, you can go with your instinct when making a big decision. Sometimes, you need to go against the tide. Some of the best business people in the world, have made it big because they did the opposite of what everybody else believed.

You have to know what you're doing, you have to have confidence in yourself - confidence to know what you're doing is right. Your biggest successes will come when you go against the tide.

We all have instincts. The important thing is to know how to use them. You may have superb academic credentials, but if you don't use instinct, you will have a hard time getting to, and staying at, the top.

Nobody can explain exactly how or why instinct works. Sometimes we just get a feeling about what we are about to do, but don't know why we feel such a way. Successful people know they have good instincts, and they rely on them for decision making - rarely understanding why.

Scientists say that there are nerve cells in the gut that are connected to the intuitive part of the brain. When your subconscious knows something is right or wrong you can actually feel it in your gut, when you are in tune with your instincts.

The first thing you must decide with regard to instinct is that, you are going to tune in to them. Know that going with your instincts takes practice and extreme focus. Instincts are a part of every highly charged situation.
