How Running An Ebay Business Isn't All Hard Work And Can Be Fun.

Graham Waite

It is the common view that you cannot be doing anything worth on eBay or business generally if you are actually having fun. If it is fun it is not really work, and if it is not work you cannot really be earning a living can you?

So many people are filled with in built sceptisism when they are told you can enjoy making money. People are programmed naturally to expect making money to be hard and definately not about having any kind of fun.

But I notice that people who do make money on the net on the whole have a lot of fun doing it especially those that make a lot of money.

When talking to successful internet enterpreneurs it's clear they can't understand why people have such a hang up with having fun and choose instead to build a proper bricks and mortar business or a drudge job.

Anyone who takes the time to question the theory behind the puritan work ethic might come up with some interesting facts.

It seems that those who know how to play make more money than those who make a strict separation between what they do to earn a living and what they do to live it.

Take the idea of making good money on eBay.

The majority of people when faced with this prospect fall in to two camps: The first just believe that they could never run a business and the second group have similar thoughts believing they could not never succeed in such a competitive market as eBay. But sadly the final result is much the same both groups either fail (if they ever got started) in their endeavours.

The most common challenge I face when coaching is breaking down this limiting belief. To many people are so hung up on the rules and expectations. Where as if they went with the flow they could be succesful and make a lot of money and have fun doing it with a virtual business.

To master eBay and make a lot of money you don't need to tie yourself up with the intricate details but you do need a fertile imagination and to be happy to stray away from the herd. To many people focus on unimportant stuff and miss the opportunities to have fun.

"I think a lot of people think too big to start," says Chris Lakey, one of today's top Internet marketing professionals. "They think they have to have everything figured out..."

When I questioned other top players on eBay the one thing they all recognised as being a commmon trait amongst most newbies was they feel overwhelmed at the possibility of running a business potentially turning over millions of dollars. This means rather than looking forward to such opportunity the reaction is more one concern and worry.

"The most important thing is just to get started". This is the mantra from those that have succeeded. You must have the capacity to think big but you must be content with starting small and going slow until you have it down.

So why don't you start having some fun and get started making some money on eBay today you might be surprised at how easy making money and having fun can be?
