Relentlessly Yes!

Relentlessly Yes!

"All that man achieves, and all that he fails to achieve is a direct result of his own thoughts." -James Allen

One little word captured John Lennon's heart. Yes. He had every option available to him--riches, talent, women--he was loved the world over and yet, that one word, expression of positivity, is what did it.

He attended an exhibit in England and Yoko Ono was one of the artists. The piece in question was a ladder which led to a tiny sign and a magnifying glass. In order to see what was written on this tiny sign, one had to climb the ladder and look through this magnifying glass. It said, 'Yes'.

One of the most famous couples in popular culture started with 'yes'. Years later John Lennon said that he loved the positive message of the piece and said that if it had been something negative, he wouldn't hav. e been interested in Yoko or her work

It's simple. We say it every day. Many of us shorten it to slang by saying, 'yeah' or 'uh huh' maybe decreasing its decisiveness a little, but still giving a positive response.

When we say yes, many times we are projecting an attitude and an affirmation, more than just agreement, and we are showing an openness and welcoming.

As a persuader, I love to hear 'yes'.

Attitude is all about self awareness. Persuasion is all about human nature. Can you see how these two concepts go hand in hand? Both require that we 'check in' with ourselves and pay attention.

There's a young women who works at the cafe where I work sometimes. She has the ultimate 'people suck' attitude. 'I'll never get what I want. Why can't I ever find a parking spot. I'm so fat. I'm always broke. . .' Wow. This is not a 'can do' attitude. She is most certainly not saying 'yes'.

When we exchange our negative loops for positive ones, we are rewarded unbelievably. I'm not saying it's easy (though, if you have the intention of ease, you may just find ease), and it is sometimes uncomfortable going against your "nature". But it may also actually be an elegant transition that comes very simply.

Negative moods can creep up on us. They are few and far between, but I have had days where I get in a bad space without even realizing it. How that manifests in me is that I begin to complain about stupid things (like the ugly paint job on the house down the street), and this bleeds into other people around me. My wife has learned to interrupt this pattern by simply saying, 'What's going on?' This gives me the internal realization that I need to take a deep breath, check in with what's going in, and readjust my attitude and intention. Wow! All of the sudden the ugly paint job has absolutely no impact on me.

We're all bound to have 'bad' things happen around us. What we don't have to do is let these things control us. We are in charge of how we respond to these events.

Charles Hannel, author of 'The Master Key System', (an incredible study in self-improvement and higher consciousness) said of attitude, "The predominant thought or the mental attitude is the magnet, and the law is that like attracts like, consequently, the mental attitude will invariably attract such conditions as correspond to its nature."

Reorienting yourself to a 'yes' attitude will get you more 'yes' in return.
