Is It So Easy To Rip People Off In The Vending Machine Business?
Robert Farnham
Why is it so easy to rip people off in the vending machine business? I don't mean consumers but those that want to own such a business? These are very smart individuals that are passionate about having their own business. They want to learn all there is about the business and do well at it. People aren't getting ripped off because they don't pay attention or because they don't want to work to make the business work.
They are getting ripped off because they take the information they get from these so called experts and vending machine distributors that they don't think twice about it. The information that is presented to them appears to be legitimate and to be something the average person can make money from.
the time they are done listening to the presentation they are willing to purchase equipment, sign a long term contract for the locations, and get started. However, it doesn't take long for this dream opportunity to start falling apart. The vending machines may not be what was expected and the locations certainly aren't going to be anything you can profit from.
Too many people think they are safe because they get involved with a vending machine company that offers them a seminar. Just because you mean with them face to face doesn't mean you will be any better off. They often engage in unethical practices that are still legal. The terms of your contract are in black and white but how you interpret them and what they mean are too different things.
With so many of these companies operating online, it is even harder to find them. Once the pressure is on they simply disappear. They change names, create a new website, and start all over again. In the mean time they are walking away with a great deal of money that innocent victims will never see again.
Even though people know scams exist in this field, they still fall for them even if they are the smartest of the bunch. Those references that they give you may be made up so even if you contact them it doesn't mean that it is legitimate. You really do need to take your time and find out who you are working with. Research it from every angle so you don't end up scammed.
Anyone that is rushing you to sign a contract or to make a purchase should be seen as someone to steer clear of. Don't put down any money or sign any paper work until you have done your own research. Stay firm with this decision even if they tell you they can't offer you the same price later on.
Educating yourself about the problems with the vending machine industry is one of the best ways to protect yourself. Take the time to read information online from other people that have been in a similar situation. You will likely be very surprised at what information you can get this way. Some of it you may not initially believe but for those that have fallen victim to them, they are very real.
