Plastic Surgery Costs

Plastic surgery costs can be pretty high and therefore out of reach for most people unless the look for some financing solutions. The cosmetic surgery costs depends on many different factors, mainly on the location and experience of the surgeon, the type of cosmetic surgery performed, the equipment used and the risk factors that vary from patient to patient.

The costs for plastic surgery are therefore a problem for many because the health insurance does not cover any of the costs involved. The insurance only pays when there is a medial necessity and not when the surgery is performed for cosmetic reasons only. A patient will have to pay for all the costs.

There are several companies that help to finance plastic surgery costs at attractive rates. The first step is to apply for a loan and get approved. Although these companies are specialized to finance cosmetic surgery costs, the basic principles to get a loan are the same as with the bank.

Another factor you must consider is that not all doctors accept financing. Often the companies have agreements with certain doctors only and pay the money to the doctor directly and not to you. A plastic surgeon will also not get the full payment from the company because there is a discount of usually 5-10%. That means if the surgery costs $3,000 for example, then the doctor may only receive $2,700.

The financing company has a risk of course. They don't know if you will be able to pay back the loan as agreed. It is an unsecured loan, that means the interest rates could be high. It pays to invest some time into research because there are sometimes interesting offers from these companies or doctors who look for new patients. You could catch a good deal probably by looking through the ads. Sometimes a doctor offers zero interest financing.

Whatever you decide, don't spend your last Dollar on this surgery. Choose your plastic surgeon carefully, make sure you have detailed lists of all possible costs involved. At the end you are alone with all outcomes of the plastic surgery. Usually the risks are low but statistically there is always something that happens to someone. What if the surgery doesn't go as expected? Maybe a second or a third surgery become necessary. Who pays for that?
