Is Fetish Really A Bad Word?

Bunnie

The word fetish is often met by looks of disgust or even embarrassment, but why? What's wrong with having a particular fetish? There are literally thousands of websites and magazines that are dedicated to specific fetishes, which means they are out there and are more common than not.

The thousands of magazines and websites dedicated to particular fetishes must have a pretty large audience or they wouldn't continue operating. There is no harm in having a particular fantasy or fetish as long as it doesn't hurt anyone that doesn't want to be hurt. Certainly knowing that there are obviously hundreds of thousands if not millions of people that share some propensity for a particular fetish gives doubt to the idea that people should be embarassed. Sharing a fantasy or fetish with your partner can not only enhance your love life but also be a very liberating feeling.

Spicing up our love life is a common concern with all couples. The act of changing things up to keep it fun and intersting is as old as time itself. All people find different things to keep it interesting and fun. These different ideas or fantasies are nothing more than harmless fetishes. Some common fetishes are an attraction to feet, butts, breast, body hair etc.. Some maybe not so common but certainly widely accepted fetishes might involve bondage or S&M activities. Regardless of the fetish they are all quite common and cause no harm as long as they are only shared with people with the same interests and desires.

The problem is that many people consider a fetish "deviant" so they become ashamed of it and they don't share it with anyone, even those that they are closest to. While you may not want to share your personal fantasies and sexual pleasures at the water cooler at work, you should be able to share them with the people that you are intimate with. Again, this is assuming that your fantasy or fetish wouldn't hurt or scare anyone!

Want to become a better partner? Loosen up, share your fantasies and fetishes with your patner and then have fun with it. Sexual exploration should be exciting and can be a wonderful thing. If you haven't figured out yet how to explore your sexuality in a fun, safe and sane way then your doing yourself and your partner a disservice. Embrace your fantasies and fetishes if for no other reason so you can be a better partner.
