You Are Not Alone There Are Famous People With Eating Disorders

There are a large number of famous people with eating disorders, and just like us they prefer to keep it a secret. But certainly back in the 1980's the problem of anorexia become very big news following the death of Karen Carpenter who suffer from this particular eating disorder.
With her brother Richard, Karen was a well renowned and popular singer around the world, who had battled with anorexia for many years. Yet although her death in 1983 at the age of 32 was caused through complications resulting from her eating disorder not because of being too thin.
In fact although she was not the ideal weight for her height, her death was caused by a heart attack. The contributing factor to her heart becoming weak was that she was not actually supplying her body with sufficient nutrients to allow it function properly.
When Karen died it actually presented everyone with a wake up call as to just how serious eating disorders including anorexia can be to the sufferer. But even after Karen's untimely death people are still unaware of the potential dangers such conditions pose on a person's health.
Even today still very little is being done to educate people about the effects these disorders can have on the body whether they are a sufferer or not. In many cases a large number of people will try to avoid the issue of eating disorders altogether instead of dealing with them.
But along with anorexia there are other eating disorders which are becoming more prevalent such as bulimia and this can also impose serious health risks to a person. In most cases those who suffer from these types of eating disorders are placing considerable amounts of strain upon their body especially the heart. Simply because they are not getting enough nutrients into in order to help it function correctly.
The only way that any one who feels that they may be suffering from any kind of eating disorder from taking control of them is by admitting that they have a problem in the first place. But this is the biggest challenge that these people will often face. Although those around them may see that they have a problem, the person will not as they feel that they are in control.
But is not just famous people with eating disorders nowadays. In fact, it can actually affect anyone no matter their age, gender or lifestyle. However, when you look at statistics it does seem to be more clearly noted that it women and young girls that suffer from these types of disorders. However it is these people who are now being provided with the help that they need in order to combat their problems because Karen Carpenter's death highlighted just how serious the problem was becoming.
