It is not easy to homeschool your kid.
- There is no need to follow the curriculum closely. Be flexible and focus on the learning process. It is important that the homeschooling journey is enjoyable.
- Always use example when you teach.
- Most children do not like writing, and therefore may need some help and care where writing is concerned. Many parents will realize that children can think much more and be more creative if someone is there to help them write out their thoughts.
- It is important that you let your children progress at their own speed, and not rush them into learning.
- There must be no other distraction such as tv or radio during the homeschooling. The children must learn to respect that there is a time for study and play.
- Bring the children to library and expose them to learning community. Create a conducive environment for your kid.
- Have a structure learning process where your kid can follow. Always start with easy things and then move on to explain the difficult one.
- Remember always that all work and no play will make your child dull. Allow him to indulge in activity that he loves. Find out what interests your child the most, it could be reading a story, computer games or playing with building blocks or modeling clay.
- Use different materials during the teaching. There can be workbooks, flashcards, games or chart. Or songs and rhymes....just need to understand which one your kid prefer.
