Many People Have Reflective Address Signs |

There are many advantages to living out in the country. There is the quiet and the space. We are also able to have room for our animals to run and play without worrying about them getting into another person's yard. There are also some draw backs. If you run out of something it is a long trip to the store. You do not have city water or sewer, so if the electricity goes out you do not have any running water. The electricity goes out frequently when there are storms and the country roads are the last to be plowed when there is a snow storm.
We would not trade our country living for anything, but we do need to have more provisions on hand than people that live close to a town and we do need to take more safety precautions because help is farther away. All of us in our neighborhood learned a valuable lesson due to a neighbor's misfortune. Our neighbor was home alone and was using a weed-whacker. The blade flew off and cut him in the leg. It was a very deep cut. He managed to get himself to the house and dialed 911. He also dialed his wife and told her he was hurt, and then he passed out. His wife rushed home, luckily, because the emergency personal could not find their house. She recalled and gave them directions. The neighbor arrived at the hospital in time to save his life and leg, however it was close. We had all been told to put up reflective address signs that were readily readable from the road. None of us had followed through with this. Our area is a development that has evolved over several years. We have our mail boxes at the end of the lane so our individual driveways are not marked. After the neighbor's experience we realized how important it was to have the reflective address signs available for emergencies.
My husband and I went into the city to find reflective address signs that could be visible coming from either direction towards our driveway. We live a good distance from the road so you do not see our home from the main road. There have been times when we would miss our drive way when coming home in the dark. We found nice readable reflective address signs to place at the end of the driveway. It is so much easier to give directions to our home to friends, family and delivery people. It is also easier for us to find the drive when we come home in the dark. Now that we have the signs we cannot believe that we went so long without them.
