The brain and nervous system activity is also stimulated immediately and a smoker may also experience dizziness and nausea just from a single cigarette alone.

In terms of more long term dangers of smoking, there are many as well. Smokers have an increased risk of developing a variety of illnesses and health conditions, including respiratory infections such as pneumonia and chronic bronchitis, heart attack and coronary disease, stomach ulcers and coronary disease.

They tend to experience gasping and shortness of breath and have trouble participating in any sort of physical activity. There are also withdrawal symptoms that a smoker will experience if they decrease the amount that they smoke or try to quit smoking altogether. They may begin to feel nervous or tense, agitated, and experience headaches, cravings, coughs, and changes to sleep patterns.

Smoking is a very dangerous and unhealthy habit, one that should be quit as soon as possible. Smoking is dangerous to everyone regardless of their age or sex, and can cause an alarming number of short and long term effects. If you do smoke, you should take every step necessary to quit for once and for all.

Quitting smoking is not only going to benefit you but your family and friends as well because you will not be bringing secondhand smoke around them after you have quit. It may sound difficult but there are many stop smoking aids out there that you can use to help you get through the process.
