One of the best ways and also one of the most underestimated ways to deal with anxiety or panic attacks is your own mental power.
simply telling yourself positive things, even if you do not believe them, when you are on the verge of a panic attack you can make a huge difference in the evolution of the episode. It does not really matter what you are telling yourself as long as you can focus and take your mind off what is going on.
On the other hand it is recommended that you use positive phrases like "Everything will be ok in just a second" or "It's going away, I feel better".
The problem is that many will give in and start think about the panic attack and the possibility of getting an attack for longer periods of time. This in turn will make panic attacks worse and it's of utmost importance that you take your mind off it as much as possible and direct it somewhere else.
Breathing techniques are excellent to solve panic attacks, but not everyone can master them immediately so telling yourself positive affirmations is a great way that can be very efficient when you are learning other ways to deal with panic attacks or when you just need to do something to solve the situation.
Naturally there are several different alternatives like Yoga, but why would you need something else and more complicated when the issue can be solved simply having a dialogue between you and yourself inside your brain.
One trick that worked in many cases of anxiety and panic attack sufferers was purchasing medication for the symptoms. As one feels the panic attack coming, patient can direct his/her focus on the pills.
Start thinking about whether you should take them or not and find the pros and cons of this situation. You will see that your focus is going to shift away from the panic attack to this problem with taking drugs or not and this alone can be very useful in eliminating the episode. Always remember to congratulate yourself after not taking the pills.
For most it can be difficult to think about positive words, thoughts or affirmations during a panic attack and coping with this situation can be hard although the issue can be solved in many cases with just inner dialogue. It's takes time and practise, but once you learn this skill, it will be worth it!
You might not succeed from the first or second try, but eventually you will learn that all sorts of positive thoughts and affirmations are extremely effective when dealing with panic attacks.
