Thomas Tooma All about the Eye
Jack Tombstone
We use our eyes in almost everything we do and depend on our eyesight perhaps more than any other sense we have. Vision is the most sacred of the 5 senses, and many people fear blindness more than any other disability.
The eye allows us to see and decipher the hues and angles of things in the universe by processing the light they reflect or give off.
The eye is able to see in dark light, but it cannot see objects when light is absent. The eye changes light rays inls as vto electrical signals then sends them to the brain, which interprets these electrical signaisual images.
The eye is set in a protective cone-shaped cavity in the head called the orbit and measures approximately 1 inch in diameter.
The orbit is next to layers of soft, fatty tissue which protect the eye and allow the eyeball to turn. 6 muscles are in charge the movement of the eye. Among the more important parts of the human eye are the iris, cornea, lens, retina, conjunctiva, macula, and the optic nerve.
