If you haven't heard of the iPhone yet, you've probably been living under a rock. When it was first released in July 29, 2007 it's sales soared. Because of these amazing first sales, the daily news was flooded with all sorts of stories about this incredible device. So what's the buzz all about?

The iPhone combines different media devices into one unit. Not only is is a cell phone but it's also a place for you to send and receive your e-mails, it's a place where you can watch widescreen movies, it's an iPod and you can even go online and visit your favorite websites.

With all of these elements combined into one, the iPhone is not only technologically advanced but it's also a handy way to carry all of your favorite multi media devices with you at the same time. Not only do you get the convenience of having to carry just one device, but because of this combination, you also get the cost savings as well.

Now, all of the features sound interesting, but simply put, you really have to see an iPhone in action to grasp how unique it actually is. Here are the different features of the iPhone:

1. When you think of a typical cell phone you imagine it to have press-able buttons which allow you to dial your call. Not the iPhone. It has no buttons. It's just has a smooth, black top surface. So how do you dial in numbers? Well, as you touch the screen, the iPhone awakens. On its screen appears big, colorful graphical buttons representing the keypad. Because the buttons are so big, it makes dialing a call a breeze.

2. Because the internet is such a huge part of today's life, the iPhone sure comes in handy when you need to access the internet when you're not near a computer. On the iPhone, you can view the real internet as opposed to pages formatted for mobile devices. You can easily zoom in out out and to see the different page elements closely. And because the screen on the iPhone is much bigger than a normal cell phone, it allows you to get a great visual of the page you're looking at.

3. The iPhone also displays widescreen movies. After you load some hit movies from the iTunes store on your iPhone, you simply click on the movie you want to watch and it starts to play. Because the unit is a rectangular shape and the whole screen is the viewing area, the movie plays in a fulls screen view.

4. The iPhone also is also a music player. With the large hard drive on board it can hold thousands of your favorite songs by your favorite artists. Simple touch on the music section and choose the artist. Another click and you're ready to start listening.

So what are these goodies and conveniences going to cost you? Well, when the iPhone was first released, it was priced at $500-$600. After understanding the market, Apple quickly dropped the price on its 8 gigabyte version to a mere $399, making it more affordable to the masses. If this is a little much for your wallet, you can get a little better deal on a used iPhone but don't think your going to steal it. iPhones are so hot right now that even a used one is going to cost you over $300.

After you receive your shiny new toy, you'll also need a monthly plan with a cellular phone company. Right now, the iPhone has an exclusive with AT&T with plans starting at $59.99 per month. Finally, if you have a few extra dollars, you may want to get a few iphone extras and accessories. Cases, headsets, adapter cables and docking stations are popular add ons.

Although, the iphone will set you back a little money, keep in mind that it really is multiple devices in one. If you want the convenience of having these different devices in one unit, then the iPhone will certainly deliver.
