You may think having a vending machine business is all about the location, you are missing one important detail - choosing the right type of vending machines. This is an important issue. Of course with this type of business it all comes down to how much profit you can earn right? You have to carefully weigh the cost of the vending machine with how much money you can make from it.
Do you want a brand new vending machine? If so, are you ready to cover the cost of it? If you have to make payments on the equipment then this eats into the amount of money you can count as profits. You don't want to work your butt off just to break even each month!
It could be that a used vending machine is the better investment, at least for the time being. As you make money you can invest in more vending machines or you can upgrade to a new one once you have the money to buy it. If you purchase a used vending machine though you better inspect it carefully.
You do need to be careful when you agree to purchase used vending machines though. This can result in large amounts of money being spent on parts to keep them operational. You will need to monitor them closely as well because the longer they aren't in service the less money you will make.
Offer your consumers as many options as possible. You want vending machines with several holders so you can provide a variety of products. Of course they won't be able to buy these products if they don't have the change available. It is your responsibility to make sure there is a dollar bill acceptor on the vending machine as well. This will definitely improve your profits.
Invest in vending machines that are reliable so that you can fight vandalism. You don't want your machine to be destroyed by those that don't care about the property of others. Plastic is cheaper to replace than glass, and in many cases it will be very durable. Try to place your vending machines in locations where you can install monitoring equipment.
It is always in your best interest to secure the vending machine location before you select the machine. This allows you to pick one that will fit well in the space you have been offered. Some of them will be too wide or too tall to fit in a specified location and if you already have the machine then this isn't going to do you any good.
Take your time to look around and see what the various vending machine options are. Compare prices and weight the pros and cons of buying new versus buying used. The internet is a great place to read reviews about the various types of vending machines too. This way you can find out what your options are and make informed choices about your vending machine purchases.
