Little Things That Make A Restaurant Great

There are a handful of little things that make a restaurant great. You may be surprised that they don't all have to do with the food that you serve or even the price that you charge for it. Paying attention to these details can make the difference between a person come into your establishment once and coming in again as a regular customer.

Everyone likes to feel comfortable when they come to a restaurant. Make sure that the chairs and booths you have are very comfortable to sit in. If you discover tears or stains you should do your best to take care of replacing them as soon as possible. It is also important that your seats are the right height for the tables.

It is a nice gesture to have both tables and booths in your restaurant. Make sure customers get to choose which one they want to sit in though rather than a hostess mandating it. Some people don't fit comfortably into a booth. You will also find some people with children prefer them as it reduces the chances of them getting down and wondering around.

While you have probably trained your staff to keep things clean, make sure they wipe down all the seats and the tables thoroughly. Sometimes sticky substances remain that can't be seen as they blend in to the color of the table. The next customer isn't going to appreciate setting their hands on the table and finding the mess though.

One of the biggest mistakes in a restaurant is the quality of the staff. You can teach them how to prioritize their time and serve meals, but you really can't teach people basic communication skills. You need to look for individuals that are outgoing and willing to interact with people. Some people will never return to a given restaurant based on the way they were treated by an employee.

It is very frustrating when your needs aren't met at a restaurant. Constantly having to get the attention of the waitress for ketchup, napkins, a drink refill, or other things can quickly become frustrating. Staff needs to be detail oriented so they can anticipate such needs to help the customers enjoy their meal. This type of assistance means a great deal to your customers.

You may not think your bathrooms are important to the success of your restaurant, but they are. The number of people that will use them in a given day may surprise you. Take the time to offer a clean bathroom with some nice decorations. Make sure someone is paying attention to the amount toilet paper, paper towels, and soap in there during their shift.

If you are in the restaurant business, then chances are you offer some great tasting food. You will also have plenty of competition so to get customers to prefer your location you need to take care of some of these small details. They won't take up too much time and they won't cost you very much to implement. However, they can significantly improve your profits for your restaurant.
