With new technology constantly being introduced, there are a growing number of hearing aids that a person can buy. These hearing aids vary widely with how they perform and how they look. What a hearing aid can and can't do affects the life of a hearing aid battery. So anyone in need of a hearing aid or hearing aid battery should consider how long the battery will last.
One hearing aid battery looks the same as another hearing aid battery - they are tough to tell apart. Luckily, there is a tab on the back of the batteries that is color coded to help people know what type of battery it is. The colors and what they represent are usually: a blue tab on the back of a battery represents C size 675, yellow represents C size 10, brown means C size 312, and orange signifies C size 13.
After a person discovers the type of hearing aid battery that's needed (the person knows the color) then that person has to actually chose a brand of battery. The main factor in determining which battery should be bought (along with the price) is how long the battery will last.
One part of a hearing aid that can drain a battery is the hearing aid's microphone. For years the problem with microphones is that they would pick-up sound but the person with the hearing aid has no way of knowing what direction the sound had come from. Now, with new technology, there is a microphone called Behind the Ear or BTE. This type of microphone allows the person to know which direction a particular sound came from. While this technology is great, it does drain the hearing aid battery more than some other types of microphones.

Not only are the RITE speakers difficult to spot, they also produce excellent sound. RITE speakers rarely use more of the battery's power than other types of speakers.
When buying a hearing aid, people should consider the price and everything the hearing aid can do. Too often the drain on a hearing aid battery is overlooked. This is a mistake because needing to buy a battery more often will be very expensive over time.
A hearing aid battery should be chosen based on price and how long the battery is supposed to last. People who wear a hearing aid should continue to test out different batteries until they find a hearing aid battery that is a good price and lasts a long time.
