By: Spencer McNight

Using Herb Seeds

Herbal medicine is quickly becoming incredibly popular around the world, and it is really no wonder why. After all, herbs are not only great for cooking but as well for medicinal purposes, and can either be used to treat a specific condition or ailment or just to improve one’s general well-being.

You can choose to go out to the supermarket every time you need to purchase herbs or you can start your own herb garden. This is the ideal option because then not only do you save yourself the hassle of having to go out to buy your herbs but as well you will save money and have access to fresher herbs that you know are safe and good quality because you grew them yourself.

Herb Seeds

If you want to start your own herb garden you are going to have to start off by buying some herb seeds. There are quite a few different herbs that you can choose to plant, and you may want to take a bit of time and make a list of the different herbs that you are interested in growing beforehand, so that once you do finally head out to purchase your herb seeds you will not be overwhelmed by the multitude of options staring back at you from off the shelves.

It is especially important to be aware of the herb seeds that you want to plant if you are planning on planting them side by side in a single bed, because some herbs do not grow well next to others so you will need to make sure that you create the most compatible and acceptable combination possible.

Just a few of the herbs that you can choose to plant are: Artemisia, Basil, Chamomile, Chervil, Chives, Clary Sage, Costmary, Dill, Fennel, Lemon Balm, Perilla, Sage, Sorrel, Parsley, Oregano, Lavender, Geranium, Lemon Verbena, Summer Savory, Angelica, Sweet Marjoram, Tarragon, Wormwood, and Yarrow.

When choosing herb seeds there are a few things you want to take into consideration. Remember that you want to find herbs that are easy to grow, and which are going to be affordable to purchase. Especially if this is your first herb garden, you want to start small and only take what you can handle, rather than taking on too much all at once and overwhelming yourself.

Gardening is supposed to be fun, and even though there is a purpose to herb gardening as you are able to use the herbs produced for a variety of purposes, you still want to make sure that you enjoy yourself and that it never becomes boring or frustrating.
