The Way To Touch Your Emotions Instantly - Inspiration Poems

By: Casey Howard

Using Inspiration Poems At a Funeral

Inspiration poems are widely used at many funerals these days. This is a way for loved ones to express their feelings in a much intimate way and having it personalized for those attending the funeral to hear how much they loved their family member.

The deceased is not able to hear these inspiration poems, but it adds a feeling of intimacy to the funeral and sets the atmosphere of giving some final thoughts to the process. Although the eulogy is appropriate and a part of the funeral activities, inspiration poems put the icing on the cake so to speak and gives the person reading the poem something to contribute to their loved ones life and death.

All inspiration poems carry a whisper of caring and love. It also represents the thought of the entire family related to the deceased. In most cases, a family member, who may be the very one reading the poem at the funeral, is a writer of inspiration poems.

The content of the poem is geared toward the feelings that are still alive for the deceased and the sadness that family members are experiencing to the loss of that loved one. Before the poem is read, the writer of those inspiration poems should have someone else or more than one person look it over to make sure it sounds good. With that confirmation, the poem can be just the right thing to set the tone of the funeral. It may be one of comfort from the pain of losing that loved one.

The Funeral Program

It would be a good idea to include the poem in the funeral program so that guest can have a copy of it to keep for as long as they want. If the person reading the poem gets emotional during the ceremony, then it would be better to have someone else read it. More than one person should be able to know the poem before the funeral day in case of that kind of emergency.

Let the poem resonate memories, love and uplifting. Don’t try to say everything in the poem. The deceased life and memories won’t be able to fit in one poem. Say the most important things and leave room for curiosity and imagination.

If you want to include a poem into the funeral ceremony and you are not a writer nor do you have a writer, you can either hire someone to do this or research online to find poems that inspire and then you can add your own twist to it.
