Prices vary according to user requirement, the history of the company (whether the company is financially sound), the quality of support (24/7 support should be provided) and the quality of voice overall.

This will be provided by the VoIP service provider and transforms the household phone in a home into a phone that works with the VoIP service. They plug into the users cable or DSL modem by an Ethernet cable and then the telephone is connected to the adapter.

VoIP allows for virtual area codes, where the option is available to select a different area from where the customer lives. This has its advantages; if customers have friends and family members that do no not live in the same area code as they do and do not have unlimited distance calls, choosing the same area code as them enables them to save money, and customers will be able to talk to them more often. This is not available as an option with a traditional phone service.

If a company is situated in Florida for example, but they want to increase their business in New York City, if they select the New York City area code, sales and productivity can be increased because the number customers ring will be local and therefore cheaper.
