Will Laminate Click Flooring Meet Your Reality Requirements?

By: Spencer McNight

Laminate Click Flooring – How Realistic Is It?

There’s nothing quite like a real wood floor, but it does of course come with a lot of responsibility. You need to sand it, clean it and stain it on a regular basis, which can all take some time to do – time which many of us don’t have.

That’s why laminate click flooring has become as popular as it is – it offers a cheaper alternative to a real wood floor and it is much easier to keep looking good. A simple wipe over with a damp mop or cloth is all that’s needed to keep it in excellent condition.

But how realistic is it?

It doesn’t necessarily pass for being real wood, but the quality of laminate click flooring has improved greatly over the years, and nowadays you can buy laminate click flooring that you would have to look twice at to see that it isn’t actually the real thing.

What Does It Cost?

The price of laminate click flooring varies greatly; you will spend more on this type of flooring than on the traditional glued variety because of its design, but if you want something that really can pass as a proper wooden floor, you’ll need to spend more cash to get it.

One distinct advantage that laminate click flooring has over laminate flooring that is glued together is that the seam is generally extremely well designed, meaning that the planks of flooring click together very closely. When you are standing in the room looking down at the flooring you will be hard pushed to actually see where the boards join each other.

This is what attracts many people to this kind of flooring. The results are generally much better and more easily achieved by anyone with average DIY skills than you’d get if you tried installing glued laminate flooring yourself.

Laminate click flooring can also be installed in pretty much any room in your house, although it’s always wise to check the packaging for any advice on where you can and can’t install it. Generally speaking, the better the quality of the flooring, the more you can ask of it. So if you are buying flooring for heavily trafficked areas such as the entrance hall, or for wet and damp areas like the bathroom, make sure the packaging states the product is suitable for those areas that you have in mind.

Finally, always make sure the batch numbers are identical on each pack you buy. This will ensure you get the best looking laminate click flooring possible.
