Myths About Hiking Colorado
Now that you have decided to go hiking in Colorado there are a few myths that need to be cleared up before you go. Over the years hiking Colorado has caused people to create legends and stories about some of the things they have seen and much of this is no cause for alarm at all. As a matter of fact, most of them are just plain silly. So let’s dispel some of the hiking Colorado myths.
Pete Coors
Pete Coors is the president of the Coors Brewing Company and he is famous for his many commercials shot in the mountains of Colorado with snow and beautiful lakes in the background. Over the years a myth about hiking Colorado has developed around Pete Coors and that myth needs to be debunked right now. Pete Coors does not hand you a free can of Coors beer while you are hiking Colorado. It doesn’t happen so don’t go looking for it.
Bigfoot
You cannot talk about hiking Colorado without talking about Bigfoot. Bigfoot is the big and hairy mythical creature that is said to inhabit the wilderness of Colorado around the Rocky Mountains. It is often said that there could be a whole colony of Bigfoot type creatures living in the Rocky Mountains and that they are said to have a horrible odor and have even been known to attack hikers that get too aggressive at pursuing the Bigfoot creatures. Contrary to popular belief, and to set the facts straight about another myth, Bigfoot does not follow you around all day if you give him your spare change. Fear of this myth seems to be a big reason why some people avoid Colorado and it is just not true. Bigfoot also does not take credit cards.
Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies are the professional baseball team in Colorado and the myth that in order to legally go hiking in Colorado you must first play at least one inning for the Rockies is completely false. It is true that they will take just about anyone to play for the Rockies but it is not a requirement to play for them.
So those are just some of the myths about Colorado that needed to be put on the table and discounted immediately as false and damaging to the tourism industry in Colorado. Remember that Colorado is full of some of the most beautiful scenery in the world so take the time to make your way out there this year on vacation and don’t worry about the myths and legends as most of them are just not true at all.
