Colored Contact Lenses

By: Jean Houston

When my daughter and I recently went to get our eyes checked, my daughter was looking at an advertisement for colored contact lenses. She thought it was very cool that you could use contacts to change your eye color, and she asked me why I didn’t want to do it myself. I explained to her that I am very happy with the color of my eyes, and I never really gave it much thought. Even then though, it could be fun to see what it would be like to have a different color on occasion.

What color you can have if you want to change your eyes with colored contact lenses will depend on your real color. My daughter has dark brown eyes, and with color that deep, she didn’t have a lot of options if she were to do that. She’s too young of course, but we looked at the chart just for fun. Those with lighter colors can choose almost any colored contact lenses, but those with dark eyes like hers have very limited options.

Whether you want to change your eyes all the time or just for fun, you can do so with the simply use of colored contact lenses. Depending on what you want, you can find choices with almost any eye doctor. If you have green eyes, and would like to try blue, you can do it rather easily with colored contact lenses. You can even have a lot of fun on Halloween by having each eye a different color, or you can have special ones that might make it look like you have green cat eyes or even no eye color at all.

You can usually find colored contact lenses at any eye doctor, or you can use your prescription to find them online. You might save some money if you look online, but make sure you are getting a quality contact. You may think of them as cosmetic, but if you need vision adjustment, it is essential that your colored contact lenses are just as good as the ones you would normally wear. If you get some with no prescription just for the change, and you normally don’t need vision correction, remember that it might take some time to get used to them, and that you have to care for them as if they were prescriptions. Your eyes are still at risk from bad habits just as they would be if you were wearing prescription lenses.
