Presents For Dad?

By: Jordan Thompson

Each year, I have a hard time choosing presents for Dad. It’s not that he is hard to buy for, it’s that he has everything he seems to need, and I’m not sure what to do about that. I often seem to find something, but the search is never an easy one. This happens to many people, especially when Dad always seems to say there is nothing he needs, and that he really doesn’t want to you to buy anything for him.

That is exactly what my dad says every year. I think about what to get for presents for Dad, and I always come up empty. That leads me to ask him if there is anything he wants, and he always says that I don’t have to get him anything. He should know better. I love to buy gifts, and he should know that I am going to get him something no matter what he says. I usually have to talk with my siblings about what presents for Dad they got him, and then I can usually go from there. I don’t get what they got, but it usually gives me something to go on.

If you have problems with presents for Dad, you are not alone. It seems that Dad might be one of the hardest people to buy for. It also means that there are a lot of gifts given each year that are never used. Things like ties are cliché for a reason. Though Dad might wear them, they are not something that should be given as a gift, unless the tie is unusual or comical in some way. Other than that, ties are not good presents for Dad, and that goes for desktop gadgets as well. You have to do better than that.

You can try walking around stores looking for presents for Dad, but that rarely works, at least in my case. What I might end up doing, instead of consulting siblings, is to put some of his interests into a search engine and then seeing what type of gift ideas come up. I have done this for friends, so there is no reason why it won’t work when looking for presents for Dad. I just wish once in a while he would give me a clue, so I don’t feel like I am buying him something that he may never use, or even worse, something he doesn’t even like.
