Drop shipping companies store the products at their own facilities and will ship the products at your command. You don't need to store any items yourself. You order the products to be delivered to your dropshipper and the dropshipper will deliver them to your customers without you ever seeing your products.
The only thing you have to do is setting up your auction in eBay. When the auction ends your just pass on the shipping address to your dropshipper. Or even better: Have the address automatically passed to your dropshipper when the auction ends. This way you would have everything automated.
The dropshipping company will label and ship the product without you getting involved. Your customer will have the impression that you mailed the product yourself.
You must establish a relationship with several drop shipping companies in order to become successful. In the beginning, most companies will require you to pay for the items that your customers order before they are shipped.
You need to fill orders in a timely manner, so you should pay for the items with a credit card for speedy service. Eventually, you will be able to have the drop shipper fill your orders, and then bill you for them later.
When setting up your auction you will have to make sure that your reserve price is higher than the price you have to pay the dropshipper.
Depending on the item you are selling, a markup of about 10% should be about right, but you should do some research to see if the item is selling for a lower price in another eBay auction, or through other online sources.
An eBay business using a dropshipper is ideal if you don't have money to start with because you get paid before your have to pay your dropshipper.
