The Reasons For Erectile Dysfunction
by Andrew John
The problems with erections are so common that most of us will likely suffer from it sooner or later. A survey performed in 1999 showed that over 2% of male population sought help because of erectile dysfunction problems. And this survey concerns only those who actually decided to look for help! To make things worse, about half of the male population aged over forty have serious problems with getting hard erection.
ED (Erectile Dysfunctions) are not only common, they are also too dangerous to be ignored. The love life, family issues, status among co-workers - everything is at stake. Until a few years ago our ability to cure ED was limited at best. Now the situation is very different. We now know much more about ED and we finally have some means that are able to combat ED
The treatment must start from determining the reason of the specific dysfunction. Basically, ED can be caused either by some health condition or psychological issues. In order to learn what is true in the specific case, we need to rule out physical reasons first.
The bad news for all those hoping for a short psychotherapy to solve their problems is that 70% ED are caused by physiological conditions: heart diseases, some prescription drug treatments or fatigue are among the most common ED cases, but they are by no means the only ones. While some reasons require only mild changes in your daily routine, sometimes ED is only the first sign of a disaster that is to come. On the other hand, about 30% of times the reasons are purely psychological - depression, lack of self-confidence if they stay for a long time may cause the brain to react differently on sexual stimuli.
Depending on the underlying reasons of ED, the treatment may look quite differently. The first is medications. They are either injected directly to penis (less painful than you might expect) or taken orally. The most popular is probably Viagra, though its unpleasant side effects prevent it from being called "a wonder pill." Sometimes even a surgery is necessary, though many doctors are very wary about it - the surgery means that risk of complications and long recovery time, not to mention that it does not get rid of the real reasons.
Fortunately, you don't have to undergo the most drastic treatments if you seek help early enough. First, you can opt for using a penis pump, though it is unadvised. As it does not solve the real problem, they will only cover your real condition and won't save you from suffering from lack of erection that will sooner or later appear if you leave ED untreated. Then, you can go for a psychotherapy, but it may be extremely difficult to cure ED this way if it has been caused by physiological reasons. The third and the best method is to use herbal supplements such as VigRX Plus. Such pills are formulated using various herbs which target both physiological and psychological reasons. However, it is recommended to consult your doctor before choosing any of these prescription-free treatments.
