Rubber Stampers: The Many Advantages of A Plastic Rubber Stamp

Plastic rubber stamps are a newer variation on the tradition rubber mounts used for stamping. They offer many advantages, and are worth taking a look at, especially if you're interested in working with larger images, such as borders. The stamp picture itself is still fabricated of rubber, but instead of wood, you can find a large scope of rubber stamps with plastic blocks.
First, think of how you have to hold a rubber stamp in order to stamp the image cleanly. The blocks can be big, heavy and cumbersome. Plastic rubber stamps have a distinct advantage in that they are lighter. Usually, plastic rubber stamps also come with and angled, easy to use handle which allows you to give even pressure all over the stamp with just one hand - even on large stamps: the result? - No more missing parts of your outline!
Plastic rubber stamps are usually clear. With wooden-mounted rubber stamps, you don't really know exactly where you are placing them. That's a pain in the neck when you are trying to build up a stamped scene or other more detailed look when you don't want to have layers and layers of paper and card.
Another great asset is the ability to achieve a more realistic scene, as if the images were always assembled together, with plastic rubber stamps; because you can check exactly where you are aiming the image. That makes masking certain areas particularly easy. In fact, being able to control and apply your images distinctly will allow you to try new designs you may not have considered previously.
Plastic rubber stamps are also so much easier than wooden stamps to clean. The ink does not penetrate the plastic in the way that it soaks into the wooden blocks. It will wipe off easily, giving you a clean image every time, uncontaminated by other dye or pigment ink colours. Also, the plastic does not need to dry out as wooden mounts do, so with a quick wet wipe and a wipe dry, your plastic rubber stamps are good to go again.
That means you can change colours on a plastic rubber stamp much more easily and readily as you can with a wooden-mounted rubber stamp - which adds greater versatility to your rubber stamping, as well as speed. Just imagine the possibilities of being able to use the same plastic rubber stamp in different colours in one session!
Plastic rubber stamps are comfortable to clean, handy to use, and can assist you in applying a more exact and layered image. They offer some clear advantages over wooden blocks, and often, once you've tried them out, you'll be a convert for life.
