Christians Know the True Secret Behind the Law of Attraction

A growing number of people, thanks to the popularity of "The Secret" are becoming aware of the impact their thoughts and energy are having on the universe around them. It's called the "Law of Attraction."
This principle is groundbreaking to the self help industry, yet it's been taught for millennium by Christian churches. Jesus' parables, only one source, are filled with examples of fear causing loss, such as in the parable of the 'Ten Talents' or the fact that we 'Reap' what we 'Sow'.
Unfortunately for all of us humans who want joy, abundance, and happiness, secular teachers can only tell people how wonderful it would be to attract great things into their lives without a reliable method to actually do this. In the recent book "The 4:8 Principle: The Secret to a Joy-filled Life," Tommy Newberry helps Christians bridge the frustrating gap with Paul's advice. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things." - NIV
Telling someone to stop thinking bad thoughts is like telling someone in pain to not feel it. Without something positive and convincing to take its place, all we can do is numb the pain. In other words, deaden ourselves to life. The hard part about changing our way of thinking is that our character will undermine forced changes unless the character changes as well.
A person's self-view is so powerful that this becomes the biggest stumbling block to success with a secular approach.
The 3 negative self image traps:
1. Victim Mentality - We've all seen people who will do anything but accept blame and face the consequences of their actions and thoughts. The problem for a Victim is that they are powerless to change and look for someone else to take over their life - someone they can blame.
2. I'm a 'bad' person - This person believes they do have control of their life. Therefore when bad things happen it is because they are a bad person. Since bad people don't deserve good things...
3. Let's Compromise Mentality - These people understand that they don't deserve good things but they want them anyway and whatever they get is never enough. They sacrifice other people, themselves, or their values in order to achieve success in something. People who want to be good and have happiness sacrifice wealth or generosity. People who want to be rich sacrifice personal relationships or principles.
These three traps keep people from truly focusing on joy and therefore attracting it. They will never be strong enough, good enough or clever enough and therefore they will sabotage themselves with fear, doubt, and greed.
The truth is that humans cannot 'have it all' on their own. By accepting Jesus' sacrifice, we step away from being victims. By his sacrifice, we also know that we have a high value. In fact, we become temples of God. By trying to emulate Christ, we avoid compromising ourselves.
The only things we sacrifice in order to accept God's abundance are the worthless and negative things we accumulated while trying to find happiness on our own. God truly wants us to enjoy blessings and abundance.
Newberry's mission in writing and sharing about the message in Philippians 4:8 is to help Christians by providing them with both the Biblical offer of a joy-filled life and the step by step guide to achieving it. He believes Christians have a duty to share the gospel to those who are spiritually dead and the best way to minister to someone in need to have a cup that is 'running over'.
