Can you walk on fire?
by Roderick Armstrong
I've been to many of the seminars, read the books, even walked on fire with Anthony Robbins. I found Tony Robbins to be an absolutely terrific guya fantastic individual who truly and sincerely cares about people.
I did affirmations and all of the other good stuff at the seminars but just didn't seem to get the change I was seeking. The reason is that I didn't have a big enough reason to change. I didn't want to change badly enough. You can do all of the self-help exercises but if you don't have leverage on yourself, you will not change. You must have a reason "WHY?" you want to change.
Are you making an attempt to live your life to your fullest extent possible? If you don't have leverage then you will not change. You need a big enough reason "WHY" you need to change. Why do you think so many celebrities are in and out of rehab so much? It's a big joke with some of them; a publicity stunt. They don't really want to change and therefore they don't change.
That's how we're wired. The great writer Earl Nightingale summed it up expertly when he said "each man is exactly where he really wants to be." How profound is that? If you think about it, it really is very true. It may not be want you want to hear, but it is true. Think about it.
It's like you're saying..."my child's future is not important enough for me to tear myself away from the TV long enough to build something better for them. I will pass on the same legacy of struggle and 'just getting by' and teach them to pass the same legacy on to their children so that the next generation will also live a half-life. Future generations of my family are not important enough for me to make the very most of my life by passing on a brighter future."
Can you possibly mean that?! Of course you don't mean that on a conscious level. But what are your current actions communicating to the world and your children? I realized that I was doing that to my family and I didn't like it. I went on a mission. I made up my mind that my kids would never have to go to work for someone unless they made a conscious decision to do so. It will not be because they feel that they have no other alternative. They will have choices.
What's your Firewalk Experience? Do you have a big enough reason "WHY" you have to change? When you find that reason, you'll be able to set the world on fire.
