Batting Cage Shopping Made Easy

Batting Cage Shopping Made Easy by Bill Ryan

Batting cages are great for improving your swing, accuracy, and power for hitting. Without them, you are restricted to regular batting practice which wont give you enough swing time to make vast improvements.

Batting cages will keep the balls in an area where they can easily be retrieved and confined to a small area. They are relatively safe, unless one gets hit by an errant pitch from the pitching machine.

But how do you choose the right batting cage for you? Consider the following:

1. Buy a batting cage that is as big as the bat. In other words, you don't need a large batting cage for a little leaguer and for a pro, a small batting cage won't work at all.

2. You may want to pass on batting cages made out of PVC pipes. A batting cage made of aluminum or other composite material will be much better suited for handling the shock from the balls hit, weather, and the UV rays from the sun.

3. The nets of the cage should be spaced far enough apart to give you the feel of being at home plate. If the nets are spaced too close, you will have to adjust your mindset when batting in a real game.

4. Ensure you are getting your money's worth from batting cages. Make sure you add in fuel charges too. It might be better to buy a batting cage instead of renting time if you find the costs are greater.

Choosing the right batting cage will greatly enhance your batting average. But make sure the benefits outweigh the costs. If you do decide to purchase a batting cage, see about charging others to use it. This might offset your costs.
