So you have had that life changing proposal made to you, now it is time to decide on what look you want for your wedding day. What style are you looking for; should you have sleeves, a full length or half length dress, a simple or fancy design. There are so many decisions to make but one thing is for sure, you want the best for you.
The first thing on your huge list of wedding preparations should be choosing your dress, once you have made that all important decision to get married. By putting this at the top of your list, you will save countless hours of anguish in planning your wedding. This way you can try many different varieties of wedding dress without worrying that time is running out and you have not found the one that shows the true you.
The theme of your wedding will be an important point when selecting that special dress. Are you getting married on the beach? If so, you might choose a light airy style. Have you decided on a formal affair? Then by all means, go all out and wear a white dress covered in silk and lace. Whatever type of occasion your wedding will be, your dress will play one of the most important roles in it!
Another important factor is what time of year are you planning to get married. If you are getting married in the height of summer, you will not want a dress with multiple layers and full length sleeves. Your wedding should be full of happy memories from the ceremony. You do not want to be thinking about how hot you got on your wedding day but rather how hot you looked in your wedding dress.
When choosing a wedding dress, try on comfortable styles. Walk around in them, if kneeling is part of your ceremony, then kneel in the dress and be sure you are not going to be uncomfortable in your choice.
How good the dress looks is only 50% of choosing the dress. The other 50% is whether you look good in the dress. You will not be able to look good if your dress is scratchy or if it is a bit tight and you are afraid you might split a seam.
One mistake that a lot of brides tend to make when choosing a wedding dress is with the size. If you are planning on losing weight before your big day, do not buy a dress the size you think you may be come the wedding day. Instead buy the size you are on the day you choose the dress. It will always be easier to take a dress in if it is too big, than to add material for a dress that ended up being too small.
You may be tempted to try to cut costs by picking a cheaper style dress than you would like. You would be much better cutting costs on the flowers, cake, photography and getting family and friends to do these for you, since your wedding dress will be the main focus of your day. If you are not able to spend the type of money required by a wedding boutique, try looking at wedding consignment shops as these often have great quality nearly new dresses at a fraction of the cost of a brand new one.
Regardless of the wedding dress you finally end up choosing, remember that you are the person that your fianc wants to marry, not the dress. The dress is only used to ensure you look your best on the day.
Having received your wedding dress, be careful to keep it hanging in the bag it came in. Do not let too many people see it before your wedding day so it can add to the ambiance of you walking down the aisle. Although many people are not superstitious, you should still make sure that you try to avoid your fianc seeing the dress too as it will add to his magic day also seeing you for the first time in it.
