The Quest For Luxury
by Julian Croft
For as long as there have been people, people have searched for luxury. Whether this desire manifests itself in personal pleasures, or luxurious surroundings, is entirely up to the person involved. It cannot be denied, though that, luxurious surroundings bring a great deal of pleasure to your life.
The desire for luxury is entirely natural, and people have found hundreds of different ways to pursue it. The easiest way to do this, of course, is just to surround yourself with luxurious items. For example, move to an upscale luxury apartment, buy a luxury car, whatever you can do. Of course, this can all be very expensive.
Although you may be inclined to go out and buy whatever you want, when you want it, this impulsive desire is inherently self destructive. You will often experience buyers remorse, where you later regret buying something, not to mention quickly building up a mound of debt. It's much better to spend a while looking for what you want, so you can be sure that what you are getting is worthwhile.
Considering this, the best thing to do is probably to take a break and write down precisely what you are looking for. Just imagine yourself, a few years in the future with everything you want, and then jot down exactly what it is you have then that you don't have now. Once you are sure what you want, you can go out and find it all.
Take a look in your nearby luxury goods stores, and see what they have available. You might get some good ideas, or failing that, discover more details about what it is you want. "Luxury car" is very imprecise, you should really know the precise brand. Plus, a look in stores will familiarize you with the approximate prices, so that you can spot a bargain when you see it.
After you've decided what you want to get, the next step is to go out and get it. For this, the internet is easily your best bet. To give you one example, the site http://luxury-directory.com/ provides a number of useful links to sites that provide all sorts of luxury goods.
Once you see what you want, you can even buy it over the internet. Most businesses nowadays have the option to buy online, and will also deliver- saving you the trouble of arranging for delivery yourself. If you keep focused on your list, you'll find it surprisingly easy to get everything you want. You might even reach your luxurious standard in only a year or two.
That's right. What you may not realise, is that you spend tens, hundreds, even thousands of dollars each year on various short-term pleausures, that you really don't need. For example, a night on the town could easily cost you a hundred dollars. If you spent that money on something else instead, something long term, you could be building up your collection of luxuries.
Which would you really rather have, a beautiful home for a lifetime or fun for a year? Remember, once you have all the luxuries you want, you can then go back to your old spending habits... although you may well not want to. So, make a list of what you want, then go out and get it!
