Send Your eBay Buyers In To A Frenzy Using Listings With Pictures
by Graham Waite
eBay buyers these days are expecting pictures. The truth is if you use don't use pictures and your competition does than you are dead in the water.Game over you are already done for.You see what happens when people see listings with out pictures is they move on and quickly. You have a few seconds to grab their attention and with out pictures they are gone.
It might take a little extra work taking good photo's of your items but it can bring huge dividends, especially if you're working on tight profit margins or selling products which really come to life with a good quality image such as cars, real estate, antiques, collectibles etc . But lets look at why they are so effective?
The biggest reason pictures are so effective is they show that you are professional and knowledgeable and that you care about your cusomers. The fact is when you bother to present your customers a quality image it implies that everything else in your business will be done to the same high standard. It indicates to them, maybe only on a subconscious level that your customer service, and everything about your business is of a high standard and a higher quality than that of your rivals who don't bother.
Photographs help create a comfort factor for your customers, we associate photo's with honesty and integrity. Most people assume if you are confident enough to share a photo of an item it must be real and in good condition. Few of us would be comfortable displaying a shoddy or worn out item in a photo.
If yoy want your auctions to be found quickly a photo will act like a flash light in a dark room making your listings jump out at your buyer. Most people when looking to buy anything are searching for instant gratification not hours of endless searching through poor listings. By making your listing stand out from the crowd you will make more sales and get higher prices than your lazy rivals who don't bother.
But how can you be sure you are the one that creates that killer photo, the one that land the customer every time? I have put together a few simple suggestions to help and make you the seller customers want to buy from.
Give them photo's from every angle, use zoom and close up's to highlight any features of special interest such as stamps, marks, signatures etc. Granted eBay charge you for every image but there is a simple way round that, just get yourself some webspace with your own hosting account and you can load as many pictures as you want.
I understand that the thought of adding images to your own web space has probably sent you in to a blind panic but it really is not that difficult to do. But if you are not comfortable with this you can find video's all over the net and on my blog at http://www.auctionwealthsecrets.com/auctionnews .If that still leads you cold you can usually find a college kid or even your own kids will be able to do this for a few bucks for you.
Improve your pictures. You might want to touch up or enhance your pictures, their are several free programs on the net you can find for this just search for 'image editors' in your favorite search engine.Using this type of program you will be able to adjust things like brightness and contrast to show your photo's in the best light possible. I personally use Adobe Photoshop but it is a bit complicated to use so I suggest maybe you stick to a free resource until you are ready to upgrade in your eBay business.
Improve picture quality. Get a good digital camera a 35mm film camera really will not do the job when using photo's online, and pay special attention to technique and composition when you take the photos. Don't just throw them on your bed and take photos or stand them on your kitchen table.
If you're not sure of yourself when it comes to photography, an empty, lightly coloured table against a white or nearly-white wall is always a good place to put things when you take photos of them. I personally choose to use a white or light colored sheet as a back drop but you can experiment and even be creative but avoid being too tacky as it will look terrible.
In a later article I will be looking at how you can take this technique one step further by using digital video which is now starting to take off on eBay and all over the internet.
