Using Blog and RSS directories to get traffic to your blog.

You can be the best blog author in the world but if your blog has no readers apart form you and your mom then what's the point. When you are first building a blog you should spend a good part of your time online building traffic streams to your blog.
There are a number of ways of getting traffic and in this article I am going to focus on blog directories and RSS feeds. The advantage of these is that you only need to do this task once for each blog. It's a fire and forget strategy with proven results so it's a must do on your task list.
So why register with these directories?
Improving your blog page rank. Most directories have a high page rank in Google, MSN and Yahoo so by getting a back link this helps to improve your page rank. Directories get a large amount of organic web traffic through their page ranking so you will get this filtering down to your blog.
You should set aside an hour or two to submit your blog to these directories in one hit. I have found this to be a better way of approaching this type of task. Get your self organised with all your info in a text file so you can simply copy and paste.
When submitting your blog you typically need the following information Blog RSS feed URL, Blog title, blog description. There may be other stuff they want but this is the basic data they all will require.
As with all traffic building strategies it takes some time to see results so you should not expect a massive increase over night. Keep checking on a weekly basis to and you will see your traffic slowly building.
The key to building traffic is to take small steps each day and slowly you will build a good flow of readers to your blog. The first 100 daily readers is the hardest to get so don't give up we all have to start some where.
