Bachelorette Party: Planning a Great Bachelorette Party

Are you a maid of honor trying to plan the perfect bachelorette party for your best friend? If so, there are a few key rules to help make sure that your bachelorette party is her night to remember, not a nightmare to forget!
First, don't wait until the last minute to make your plans. There are so many events surrounding a wedding that you have to pick a date well in advance for the bachelorette party. Do plan your event about two months in advance. That will ensure that all the bridesmaids can agree on a date. Plus, you need sufficient time to choose the venue for the party, plan any entertainment and transportation, and otherwise get ready for bachelorette party fun!
Other girls prefer a night in with their closest friends, talking about guys, watching movies, and having a few margaritas. Either way, once you have determined whether you are planning an out on the town or an in the home party, you can begin to choose a theme for your event.
As for the date of a bachelorette party, don't plan it for the night before the wedding, the last thing the bride needs to be thinking about is a possible hangover or going home early from her own party. One good option is to have the bachelorette party the same weekend as the bachelor party, so you may want to coordinate with the groom to get the date set.
Next, think about party favors and decorations. You want to match the theme of your bachelorette party, and also the tone. For a tamer party, focus on girly touches and party favors like nail polish and hair accessories. For a wilder party, decorate with penis balloons and make a cake shaped like a penis. This is not for the faint of heart, but for a wild bunch of ladies, it can be a real riot.
Next, don't let guests sway the plans that are already in place. It is OK to tell girls that this is not a party about them, but as a bachelorette party is all about the bride. Do feel free to remind your guests that whatever you have planned is "what the bride wants," but make sure that that is true, and that YOU aren't dismissing the bride's wishes!
You can opt for a nice dinner out, a concert, or a party at someone's house, including a possible slumber party, especially if some of the guests are from out of town. If you do go out, make sure that all the guests know how to dress - do you have a theme color or is everyone going to wear a feather boa? Are you all bringing items for the bride to wear, like a novelty tee-shirt and a veil?
The bachelorette party is not a gift party in the same way a shower is, but presents are usually given that are silly or a bit naughty. Encourage guests to buy inexpensive gag gifts, sexy gifts, or lingerie for the wedding night.
