Intimacy Enhancer Use Among Couples

There can be advantages to familiarity. Sex isn't always one of those advantages.

A challenge that's common in couples across the spectrum is maintaining an intimacy spark. The excitement of intimacy often ebbs for couples over time. The excitement can also disappear entirely.

Lack of sexual interest is often the hallmark indicator that lessening passion between couples has set in. A regular course of sexuality becomes burdensome in couples who've seen a significant drop in passion levels.

Couples lacking interest in sexual activity isn't some small, unimportant matter. Unfulfilling sexuality in couples can encourage acts of infidelity. Poor sexual interaction between couples can literally break up a relationship.

Relationships aren't all sexual, obviously, and a strained relationship isn't entirely that way because of unfulfilling sexuality. Maintaining a functional, healthy relationship requires work, and that work must happen on multiple levels.

Still, some couples have addressed lacking passion in their relationships by aiming straight for the big target: sex. These couples, growing consistently in number, invest in passion spark by purchasing sex enhancers.

Couples using aids for intimacy doesn't trend recent. The sexual revolution years, emphasis on the 1960's and 70's, swung open the door for couples to expand physical intimacy. This intimacy expansion sometimes involved using sexual stimulators, or aphrodisiacs.

Sex stimulators, aphrodisiacs, of the past were essentially home remedies that didn't work consistently, if they worked at all. Viagra was the first thing proven to make a difference in sex performance, albeit Viagra did this in the treatment of a physical dysfunction.

Soon after Viagra's appearance, sexual enhancement specific products -- as opposed to medical treatments -- began to appear. These products were nonprescription and could be purchased easily.

Couples are a big market for these nonprescription sex enhancers. Many couples use these enhancers for better overall passion through improved physical intimacy. The sales of these enhancers are growing by the day.

So the obvious question becomes whether using sexual enhancers to encourage an improved sense of passion in a relationship is a good idea. This much is clear: using sex enhancers will never bypass the need to work at a relationship. There's an effort required. Honeymoons don't last forever, after all.

With that said, there's no question that a rewarding sex life is critical to long term intimacy. Deciding to use methods that keep intimacy enjoyable is completely legitimate.
