The Benefits of Sleeping in a Hammock by Filipe Onterrio

Sleeping in a hammock is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable things you can imagine. Hammocks are wonderful whether you're just resting during the day or sleeping for a whole night. Researchers have found that sleeping in a hammock is extremely beneficial, since you attain the deepest sleep on a consistent basis and more quickly than in a regular bed. Deep sleep is what reenergizes us and gets us ready for the day ahead.

Studies have found that people deprived of sleep experience a decrease in their immune system, metabolic functions, and overall health. The body needs this deep sleep to rest and function properly. Unfortunately, millions of people around the world are unable to get a good night's rest. Not only is their physical health affected, but their mental health as well -- they venture through life tired and grumpy.

On the other hand, when we get a good night's sleep we awaken restored and full of energy. Unfortunately, too often people rely on sleep aids such as pills, aromatherapy, among others, trying their hardest to have a good, healthy sleep. It would be so much easier and more sensible just to buy a hammock.

It is a fact that sleeping on a hammock greatly improves a person's quality of sleep, whether they are suffering from daily stress or suffering from a more serious problem such as sleep apnea. Current medical studies have shown that sleeping well is the greatest solution for many things such as depression, anger, and anxiety. If you have ever received a back massage or spent time relaxing in a Jacuzzi, you know how relaxed you feel.

Sleeping in a hammock can produce that same wonderful feeling. When you lie in a bed, all the pressure points on your body are in contact with the mattress. On the other hand, when you lie in a hammock your weight is distributed evenly, a state such as floating might induce. None of your pressure points are pressing into a hard mattress.

These days many people are giving up their beds in favor of sleeping in hammocks. Many who are sleep deprived have found that this simple substitution gives them renewed energy in their mind, bodies, and spirits. Statistics suggest that more than 10 million people are using hammocks for their night's sleep.

If you are one of the millions having trouble finding a good night's sleep, give some serious thought to replacing your bed with a hammock. There are a number of choices, but the Nicaraguan, Brazilian, and Mayan are generally accepted as being the best. They all fit into an average bedroom and provide perfect weight distribution for our tired bodies.
